Headliners Awards & Scholarships

REGIONAL AWARDS

Cash awards will be presented in the competitive classification in four divisions—children, junior, teen and senior. Cash to be presented at regionals totals up to $70,000. Recreational routines will be recognized with separate overall awards. Cash is not awarded for recreational routines.  

REGIONAL OVERALL AWARDS 

Children, Junior, Teen & Senior Solos - $50 each

Children, Junior, Teen & Senior Duo/Trios - $50 each

Children, Junior, Teen & Senior Groups (4-7 dancers) - $100 each

Children, Junior, Teen & Senior Lines (10-16 dancers) - $150 each

Children, Junior, Teen & Senior Classes (17 or more dancers) - $150 each

12&under and 13&over Extended through Production - $200 each

*All cash awards are presented to the dance studio. A minimum of 10 entries in each category of children, junior, teen, senior and production is required for cash prizes to be awarded. If there are less than the required number of routines, overall cash awards may be combined as follows: Children/Junior and Teen/Senior. In the case of Extended through Production if there are less than the required number of entries the routines will remain in the line or class division to be eligible for cash awards. 

REGIONAL TITLE AWARDS

Petite Miss, Master, Junior Miss, Junior Mister, Teen Miss, Teen Mister, Miss and Mister Headliner. Up to 2 winners in each age division at every event. Regional title winners will represent their region at the National Title Championships.

 

NATIONAL AWARDS

Cash awards and trophies are presented to first, second, and third places in all 20 categories listed under Regional Cash Awards. Extended through Production routines will be considered for separate overall awards in the 12 & under and 13 & over divisions. A special trophy is awarded to fourth and fifth places. The top 10 soloists in each category are recognized. National Title winners in the 8 categories listed above will also receive cash awards. A minimum of 15 entries in each division is required for overalls to be presented. There must be 20 routines for first runner-up cash awards to be presented and 25 entries for second runner-up. No cash awards are presented at the preliminary competition.(If there are less than the required number of routines in Solo though Class, overalls may be combined as follows: Children/Junior and Teen/Senior. Extended through Production routines may be included with the lines and classes in specific age divisions in order to be recognized.)

 

PLATINUM CIRCLE CHAMPIONSHIP

At regionals the highest award presented is elite gold. At Nationals a platinum level is added. Any entry receiving a score of 565 or higher (an average of 94+) receives special recognition and competes against one another for additional cash prizes totaling $5000. 

ADDITIONAL NATIONAL AWARDS

*Headliners Award for Excellence (3) - Dancers receive cash awards for overall excellence.

*United States Dancesport Federation (2) – Cash awards for excellence in workshops

*Student Choreographer of the Year Award
 
*Choreographer of the Year Award
 
*College Scholarships - totaling $348,000 will be awarded 

NOTE: Any routine that wins an overall award at a regional may not compete the same routine at another Headliners regional. Any routine receiving a first place award at Nationals cannot compete that same routine in the next year’s regional or national competition. NOTE: Pro-Am and Professional routines are not eligible for overall awards at regionals or nationals. However, if there are 15 or more combined entries at Nationals, a separate overall award will be presented. Pro-am and Professional routines are not eligible for placement in Platinum Circle at the National Championships.

SPECIAL AWARDS AND HONORS

Judges’ awards will be presented at all awards ceremonies during regional and National events. These awards recognize special qualities the judges see regardless of score. One trophy is awarded per routine. Ribbons are awarded to each contestant in duo/trio, group, line or class. At regionals, a high overall medal is awarded to 1st  through 5th places in solo, duo/trio, group, line and class categories in children, junior, teen and senior divisions.
